In Grand-Manil, in Walloon Brabant, architecture firm STARC designed a new detached four-sided family home that brings together a generous and richly differentiated programme of living spaces. The project makes the most of its plot within a residential development, deploying a balanced volume that opens freely to all four orientations.
The programme reflects a family-centred approach to domestic life: two distinct living rooms, one for television and one for quieter relaxation, provide rare flexibility for day-to-day use. Two children's bedrooms and a master suite with private facilities define the sleeping quarter, while a dedicated man-cave asserts the ambition to give every occupant a space of their own.
Architecturally, the project prioritises clarity of circulation, a considered hierarchy of spaces, and the quality of natural light throughout. Located in Wallonia, this residential architecture project demonstrates how a contemporary single-family home can respond precisely to the needs of its occupants while sitting modestly within its suburban context.
