The renovation of a residential extension in Jemeppe-sur-Sambre, in the Namur province of Wallonia, addresses the existing volume in a comprehensive and technically rigorous manner, encompassing roof replacement, window and door renewal, wall insulation, and floor levelling.
The project treats the extension's building envelope as a whole, with continuous wall insulation and new glazed frames working together to significantly reduce heat loss and refresh the exterior appearance of the structure. Particular attention was paid to the consistency of the thermal layer across all surfaces.
The floor levelling intervention completes the scope of works, ensuring both technical and functional coherence throughout the renovated extension. STARC, an architecture firm based in Gembloux, Belgium, led this residential renovation project with a focus on execution quality and the long-term durability of the chosen solutions.
This project reflects a considered approach to improving existing built fabric, prioritising energy performance and structural longevity over superficial transformation.
