— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
A new-build detached house in Grand-Manil, in the province of Namur, this three-storey residential project makes the most of a steeply sloping plot, accommodating two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study and an integrated garage within a coherent and considered architectural response.
The pronounced topography of the site is the defining driver of the design. Rather than flattening or fighting the gradient, the project embraces the slope by staggering the three levels in a cascading arrangement, allowing each floor to maintain a direct connection with the exterior and to benefit from natural light suited to its orientation.
The restrained volumetry integrates naturally into the built fabric of Grand-Manil without imposing itself on its surroundings. The vertical organisation of the programme establishes a clear hierarchy between living spaces, private quarters and technical or service areas, ensuring fluid circulation and genuine everyday comfort.
This residential architecture project was designed by STARC, an architecture and engineering firm based in Gembloux, active across Wallonia and the Namur region.
