— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
In Limelette, in the Walloon Brabant province of Belgium, STARC has designed a new four-facade detached house combining a family residence with two integrated medical consulting rooms, drawing on Brabant architectural tradition while asserting a resolutely contemporary language.
The building is composed of two distinct volumes united beneath a dual-pitched roof clad in red clay tiles. This articulated massing engages thoughtfully with the surrounding residential fabric while maintaining a rigorous and legible architectural expression. White-painted brick provides a unified, restrained materiality: the pale tone amplifies natural light and roots the volumes within the planted landscape that frames the plot on all four sides.
The two-volume arrangement responds to a clear programmatic brief, separating without severing the private residential sphere from the professional spaces. The taller, more compact principal volume houses the living areas and four bedrooms, while the lower adjoining wing accommodates the consultation rooms, which open directly onto the garden. Generous, rhythmically composed glazing establishes a strong visual dialogue between interior and exterior, drawing natural light deep into the living spaces.
The open setting within a landscaped plot enables careful solar orientation, preserves the privacy of each facade, and ensures a balanced architectural presence within this characterful residential environment.
