In Perwez, in the province of Walloon Brabant, STARC designed a two-storey extension of approximately 40 m² added to an existing residential building, accommodating a living room, a study and two bedrooms, alongside the renovation of two bathrooms. The project pursues a measured densification of the existing built fabric, extending the volumetric logic of the house in a manner that sits comfortably within the residential character of Perwez.
The design of the extension is structured around a clear separation between daytime and night-time spaces distributed across two distinct levels. This vertical organisation minimises the building footprint while ensuring that each room maintains a meaningful relationship with natural light and its immediate surroundings.
The modification of the two existing bathrooms was fully integrated into the project's overall approach, ensuring material and functional consistency between the existing dwelling and the new volume. This 2024 residential extension reflects the architecture firm's ability to address compact programmes with precision, coherence and restraint.
