— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
A four-facade detached family home incorporating a dedicated space for a liberal profession was designed and built in Grand-Manil, in the province of Namur, Wallonia, following a sober and functional architectural approach. The project brings together two distinct programmatic entities, the private residence and the professional area, within a coherent built volume that fully assumes its dual purpose.
The building's siting takes advantage of the plot configuration to establish a balanced relationship between living spaces, access points and outdoor surroundings. The four-facade massing gives the house a clear architectural presence within its residential context, while the interior layout ensures a strict separation between the private sphere and the professional quarters, a key requirement for this type of mixed-use programme.
STARC, an architecture and engineering firm based in Gembloux and active throughout Wallonia and Brussels, developed a design that responds to the client's ambition to combine domestic quality of life with professional activity in a contemporary and site-specific architectural framework. The material palette reflects a commitment to durability and contextual integration within the built fabric of Grand-Manil.
This new-build project demonstrates STARC's expertise in addressing complex programmes that merge residential living with liberal profession spaces, delivering tailored architectural solutions in Belgium.
