— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
In Gembloux, Namur province, architecture firm STARC designed a three-level industrial hall of approximately 1,600 m² for a car garage business. The brief brings together a mechanical workshop, a customer reception area, staff welfare facilities and tyre storage, all structured around two mezzanine levels that make full use of the building's vertical volume.
The building's massing responds to the functional demands of a mixed industrial and service facility of this scale. The layout clearly organises the flow between working areas, the customer-facing reception zone and storage spaces. The siting ensures the reception area is immediately legible from the public realm, while keeping the workshop operations efficient and unobtrusive in the background.
The three-level distribution, including two mezzanines, achieves a coherent separation of uses: the workshop benefits from clear heights suited to vehicle servicing, while staff and administrative spaces occupy the intermediate levels. This new-build project in Wallonia demonstrates how architecture can successfully reconcile technical constraints with quality of use across a complex mixed programme.
