— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
A contemporary detached four-facade house designed in Champion, in the province of Namur, Wallonia, this residential project combines architectural clarity with a sensitive integration into its built and natural surroundings. STARC, an architecture firm based in Gembloux, developed a scheme in which volumetric composition and material choices work together to define a coherent and enduring domestic architecture.
The siting of the house makes the most of the plot's orientation, establishing a considered relationship between the living spaces and the outdoor environment. The facades are composed to balance generous natural light with visual privacy, creating a carefully calibrated interplay between openings and solid surfaces that guides the spatial experience from the exterior inward.
Internally, the layout is organized around a fluid sequence of living and sleeping areas, with particular attention paid to the quality of transitions between private exterior spaces and the main living zone. The restrained architectural language reflects a commitment to long-term relevance and spatial quality, grounded in the climatic and landscape realities of the Walloon region.
