— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
A detached single-family house in Limelette, in Walloon Brabant, designed by architecture firm STARC following a classical and traditional architectural approach. The main building rises over three storeys, while the ancillary volume housing the garage is two storeys high. Two simple interlocking rectangular volumes form a clear and readable massing, with the entrance emphasised by a slight recess in the front facade, creating a well-defined threshold visible from the street.
The pitched roofs, clad in anthracite slates, give the project a silhouette rooted in local architectural tradition. The light-toned brick facades contrast with dark-coloured external joinery, achieving a restrained yet characterful appearance. Openings are oriented primarily to the south on the rear facade, maximising natural light and strengthening the visual connection between the living spaces and the garden.
The building is positioned in strict accordance with the subdivision plan alignment, integrating it seamlessly into the existing urban fabric. Through its scale, materials and architectural character, the house fits naturally into the built environment of Limelette, a residential municipality in Walloon Brabant, Belgium.
