— Project intent

A precise answer to the site and programme.

This project is a newly built detached four-facade house in Waha, a rural village in the province of Luxembourg in Wallonia, delivered turnkey in 2022. The brief called for a complete family home including three bedrooms, a bathroom, an integrated garage and a playroom, all organised within a clear and liveable floor plan.

The siting takes full advantage of the plot to free all four elevations and establish a generous connection between the interior and the surrounding garden. The massing is deliberately restrained, ensuring a harmonious integration into the village fabric of Waha without imposing on its quiet, pastoral character.

Internally, the layout separates the daytime living areas on the ground floor from the private sleeping quarters above, achieving a natural balance between openness and intimacy. Circulation is fluid and the spatial hierarchy straightforward, reflecting a pragmatic yet considered approach to residential design.

STARC, an architecture and engineering firm based in Gembloux, Belgium, oversaw the full design and delivery of this turnkey residence, demonstrating its expertise in new-build residential architecture across Wallonia.
