— Project intent

A precise answer to the site and programme.

A contemporary single-family home extension in Ernage, Namur province, Wallonia, this rear annexe expands the living area and establishes a direct connection between the interior, the covered terrace, and the garden.

The addition is compactly positioned along the alignment of the existing right-hand facade, seamlessly continuing the existing canopy. This configuration now allows direct access from the living room to the outdoor terrace, a circulation previously absent from the layout. The volume remains discreet from the public realm and integrates naturally into the rural character of Ernage.

A flat roof with EPDM membrane was chosen to clearly distinguish the new volume from the existing one, lending the dwelling a resolutely contemporary quality. The large anthracite grey PVC sliding frames, salvaged from the original rear facade, were repositioned coherently to maintain generous natural light and an open view onto the garden. The extension's facade is clad in dark grey composite panels, a modern and durable material choice that unifies the overall composition with restraint.

Designed by STARC, an architecture firm based in Gembloux and active across Wallonia, this turnkey extension precisely meets the client's desire for greater comfort and spatial fluidity in the home's main living spaces, while respecting the architectural identity of the existing house.
