— Project intent

A precise answer to the site and programme.

In Grand-Leez, in the province of Namur (Wallonia), STARC designed a mixed-use ensemble combining a four-facade detached house and an independent veterinary practice, two separate volumes unified by a shared outdoor terrace. The architectural approach prioritises seamless integration within the existing built environment, with a scale and material palette drawn from the surrounding classical architecture, characterised by vertical massing and pitched roofs.

The villa is oriented towards the south-east to maximise natural light in the main living areas. A projecting facade element lends the house a distinctive identity while housing the two integrated garages. The driveway is generously sized to accommodate additional vehicles without creating congestion on the street.

The veterinary practice stands as an autonomous volume with dedicated client parking spaces to the exterior. The terrace connecting the two structures provides visual and functional continuity, giving the overall composition a harmonious and compact character despite the dual nature of the programme.

Completed in 2019, this project reflects the architecture firm's ability to handle mixed programmes in a peri-urban Walloon setting, balancing functional requirements, urban integration and architectural coherence with the surrounding context.
