— Project intent
A precise answer to the site and programme.
In Saint-Denis, in the province of Namur (Wallonia), STARC designed a detached single-family home built on a single level, with an architectural approach centred on a simple, compact and refined volumetry, characteristic of contemporary flat-roof residential architecture.
The composition is structured around two distinct volumes: a main volume housing all the living spaces, and a secondary volume accommodating the garage, which interlocks with the former in a coherent and controlled manner. The choice of two contrasting cladding materials, white render and composite panels, reinforces this volumetric distinction and gives the project a clearly contemporary character.
The fenestration strategy was carefully considered to balance natural light and privacy. Large glazed openings on the rear facade offer a generous visual connection to the garden and a pleasant outlook over the surrounding landscape, while maintaining discretion from the public realm and neighbouring plots. Additional openings on the right side facade ensure adequate daylight throughout the interior spaces.
Clean in its lines and thoughtfully positioned on the plot, this new-build house reflects a sober and contemporary approach to residential architecture, well suited to the local context of the Namur province in Wallonia, Belgium.
