In Bastogne, in the province of Luxembourg (Wallonia), STARC designed two turnkey single-family homes delivered in 2022: a three-sided detached house and a two-sided semi-detached house. This new residential construction project demonstrates the architecture firm's ability to manage two distinct housing programmes simultaneously on a shared site, achieving volumetric coherence and a considered integration into the built fabric of the Ardennes region.
The design of both homes is guided by a sober, functional approach that pays careful attention to the relationship between volumes, openings and the surrounding landscape. The implantation of each house was studied to maximise natural light while preserving the privacy of future occupants, a key quality in this residential context of rural Wallonia.
